OnyX is a multifunction utility (maintenance, optimization, and personalization).
It allows you to run misc tasks of system maintenance, to configure some hidden parameters of the Finder, Dock, Dashboard, Exposé, Safari, Login window and of some of Apple's own applications, to delete caches, to remove a certain number of files and folders that may become cumbersome, to see the detailed info of your configuration, to preview various logs and CrashReporter-reports, to check the Preferences files and more.
Automatically check update, verify the status of startup disk and the structure of system files at launch, parameter with precision the actions, modify the appearance of OnyX (Brushed Metal, Flat Metal or Aqua), increase the window transparency, chooose its icon and the toolbar icons among those proposed in the Preferences...
OnyX is delivered with Uninstall Onyx, an independent application allowing to individually remove the components created while installing and using OnyX (preferences, history, temporary folders...).
Requirements:
OnyX is a Universal Binary application and works with all Macintosh PowerPC and Intel computers running Mac OS X version 10.4 (Tiger). To run correctly, OnyX must be run from an admin account.
OnyX is also available for Mac OS X 10.2 (OnyX for Jaguar), Mac OS X 10.3 (OnyX for Panther), Mac OS X 10.5 (OnyX for Leopard) and Mac OS X 10.6 (OnyX for Snow Leopard).
